I hit 34mph coming down Holmes Pt! WooHOO! (then hit the brakes.) No need for speed here.

Take me home, Country Roads….

Such a peaceful morning ride though the country roads of Whatcom County. Very few cars, lots of cows, a few baby horses……. and Mount Baker watching over us. Felt gooooooooooooood!

Smokin’………

………hot!   Yowza!   I ran with Thomas-the-other-cousin around Pt. Roberts on Saturday morning.  Even though we were on the road by 8am, it was smokin’ hot outside!   We didn’t take any water which was a big boo boo.    Good thing Uncle Doug & Uncle Dave were going for a joy ride in Uncle Doug’s new ‘big boy toy’ (aka sports car), and gave us $$ to stop at the store.   We bought water and walked the remaining mile back to the cabin.

I LOVE THE SUN!  :-)

FINALLY learned how to flip turn!

To round out the Friday workout, we hit the pool for a lesson on the elusive flip turn.    I have been frustrated by this ‘trick’ for years….    THANK YOU Peter for taking the time to make it work!   Adding the flip to my repertoire isn’t yet making me more ‘efficient’ in the pool - but I’ll keep working it.  In the meantime, I can at least pretend I’m one of the cool kids now!    Hee hee!

Remember, breathe OUT when you somersault!    Yeah, that’s the ticket!  :-)

Great Big Pub Show!

Yipes!  I’ve got lots to catch-up on.   After our workout on Friday morning I hopped on the freeway to Vancouver, BC.   It turns out my ’secret’ Great Big Sea show was a private gig at Doolins’ Irish Pub!   I was ‘this close’ to Alan, Sean, Bob, and Murray!    They rock in outdoor venues.  The acoustics at small theatre shows can’t be beat.   But seeing them (and their Celtic roots!) at an Irish Pub was over the moon!

Corrie (my cousin and super-star +1 for the evening) and I proceeded to imbibe in cider on tap - so THANKS Lolly for being our chauffeur!  :-)     We took a tonne of pics which I’ll post over on my Facebook page when I get them from Cor.

A Great Big night had by all!   Thanks lads for the tickets!

Angel of Hot Towels and Tea!

An Angel of Hot Towels and Tea came to our rescue!

Every morning Peggy at the Y front desk greets us with a smile and a hello - giving no hint of the crazy hour of the morning we arrive.   This morning Peggy went above and beyond.    My friend Peter and I had just come in to the gym from an hour-long bike ride on the Burke-Gilman.  The time was about 6:30am.  (Yes, we started early!)  The sun was out so we were not expecting it to be so FREEZING COLD outside.  Seriously, it was FREAKIN’ COLD!  Our fingers were numb, our teeth were chattering and we could not feel our feet.

Seeing our distress, Peggy jumped into action.   She brought us warm towels right out of the dryer.  Then she reappeard from the office, bringing us each a cup of hot tea.

Such kindness and service!!!

Thank you Peggy for being our Angel of Hot Towels and Tea!   Your gesture definitely warmed our toes - and more importantly, it warmed our hearts.
