what triclub do you belong to? I notice you are in the seattle area and I have found LunaChix, cascade and snohomish bike clubs(all their ride but 1 are still too long or fast for me) wondering what other groups might be out there for some newbies…

It’s the Y-Tri club out of the YMCA in Bothell.  The group is formal enough to have ‘get togethers’ and workout sessions… informal enough to keep it light….inspiring enough to provide lots of learning…and inclusive enough for all levels.  The ‘club’ is run by a gaggle of volunteers so it’s friendly as well.     There is a Yahoo Groups page where people post invitations for spur-of-the-moment rides, runs, open water swims and all sorts of fun.    Check it out!

Another suggestion is to check out Craigslist…… my buddy is a traveling nurse which means she is in a new home every 13-20 weeks….. whenever she receives her new assignment, she posts a ‘Wanted: Walking Buddy’ on that city’s craigslist site. She is very specific about her abilities and speed so the people who reply are all of the same fitness level with similar goals. She’s been very successful at finding groups (and ‘founding’ groups!) that often become friends as well………..
