Race Apathy

The Tri Club season officially kicked off yesterday. Our names were even on the presentation as ‘volunteers’ for the club. Seeing all the new (and excited!) faces always makes me smile. Most of the attendees at this meeting are first-timers tri-ers. The club is known for its welcoming and safe environment for newbies.
But something is different this year. I’m noticing that I’m not really into doing an actual ‘race’. I know I always have fun when I race, and that I always stick to a plan when I’m registered for a race. But for now, I’d rather do 90 minutes of yoga than a brick.
What’s up with that?

Bumms me out that I can’t log miles for General Cardio

Though it’s great to log hours…I sure wish I could log miles for “General Cardio”. Some days it sure feels like I work out harder than ‘run’ or ‘bike’ workouts, especially on interval days.
However, I notice I respond much better to Total Miles than hours…

Bling is the Secret to Self Actualization

Today, Good Morning America had Deepak Chopra on as a guest. He was answering viewer questions about how to be zen in this economy, etc etc.. Except, I couldn’t hear him. I was too distracted by the flashy rhinestone glasses he was wearing. Picture it: Deepak with sassy, sparkling rhinestone encrusted eye-glasses. So… off. The disconnect of someone so wise, centered and zen wearing sparkley bling was too much for my mind to take.

And yet ~ there are lessons everywhere. Maybe Bling is the Secret to Self Actualization? Hmmm.. I’ll have to meditate on this. I think Deepak is on to something!

Hour of Power…Yoga, that is

I can’t decide if I should log this as ‘flexibility’ or ’strength’….  the Power Hour of yoga is definitely a strength workout…but also works flexibility like nobody’s business……    I’ve got serious sweat equity in my ‘flexibility’ pie piece, so I’ll stick with it.
