Workout:
An amazing day! And so close to town! I kept having the thought, ‘Why don’t I do this more often?’ Thanks to my Canadaland friend for the brilliant idea!
Workout:
In the 90+ degree heat, the crazies were out at the lake! Everyone - and their dog - were trying to cool off. So in we go with our WETSUITS on. Yes, we looked like knobs. The suits were not needed at all for warmth. And yet, my wetsuit is my blankie. I just won’t swim across the lake without it.
Safety first.
Workout:
Wow! Whatever juice I had this morning - keep it coming! I started with the plan for a brick.. A 90 minute ride with a 45 minute bonus run…. BUT the ride felt so good, better than in a very long time, so I decided to stay in the saddle.
PLUS, I was loving the hills so I just kept hunting them down!! (Weird, huh?)
Start at LogBoom Park
UP… Juanita (North side)
Down Holmes Point Drive
UP… Holmes Point Drive (LOVE that hill)
Down Juanita (South side)
UP… Juanita (South side) *Yep, decided to turn around at the bottom and come back for more!
Down Juanita (North Side)
UP…Simonds Road (Felt THAT one! At the top I was doing 5mph. Steeeep!)
Down Simonds Road
Out to Redhook Brewery (okay, this part was flat…)
And back to LogBoom Park.
So - the rockin’ biker’s tan lines are getting darker. Sassy!
Workout:
…my dog, that is. Today, all she had in her was 9 miles. Can’t blame her though! It’s smokin’ hot and muggy out. We were running in only partial shade and she’s got black fur… We tricked her out with water and stopped to let her play in the river. This helped but didn’t want to push it.
Workout:
Seriously? How is that even possible? Every time….I mean, EVERY time I ride the Burke-Gilman between the turf farm and the soccer fields, there is a headwind both ways. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is or how hot/cold it is outside.
Mother Nature plays cruel, cruel jokes.
Workout:
There is a myth that we need to ‘feel motivated’ to exercise (or, do anything in life). Like ‘motivation’ is a prerequisite to get out there. This is wrong. First we just need to do the work, whether we ‘feel like it’ - OR NOT.
Once we start seeing/feeling results (which, for exercise can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks!), then our work is reinforced. Then, like magic, motivation appears for us to continue.
I bought into the myth earlier today. I know there is no cheese at the end of this tunnel - so I put my big-girl panties on and rode anyway.
Moral of the story: Just. Do. The. Work.
Workout:
Thanks PE for the cool pics from Chelanman AND the nifty PPT you built. It’s lovely!!
Mitch will be moved.
Workout:
Bloody hell. Hoodlums scoping our stuff while we were swimming. Thank you to the nice ladies who shoo’ed them away. This is happening more and more this summer. They even stole Mitch’s crummy towel and flipflops. WTF? Whatever happened to manners?
Note to self: Put wetsuit on at car and don’t leave anything on the shore.
And Rats! I swam to the flagpole thinking that would be a good landmark to cite on Gmaps-pedometer. No dice. So, the distance is estimated. I’ll get a better look at the house next time so I can map the distance accurately.
Workout:
There must have been vodka in my water bottle today. I never would have decided to ride hills and do a brick if I was sober!
Juanita + Market + 85th (85th was a very, very bad idea…. unless you’re into near-death-experiences, that is)… then hopped on the trail and home for a short run.
Heat aside, it felt good!
