I’d rather poke my eyes out than swim laps. And..it’s still too cold to swim in the lake. Soooo - a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. The workout (and company) helped today. It might get even better when I get my underwater MP3 player up and going. Whoever thought of this is a genius.

Hill repeats

Ran a fast/hilly 3 miles then did hill repeats for an eternity. Not sure what’s up with my left knee… felt pain on the downhills. Ice & Aleve for dinner.

Ortho appt tomorrow…pushing it.

I’ve had this appt with a hip specialist scheduled since late November. Of course the hip has been feeling decent while running in Italy. It may be counter-intuitive…but I really pushed it today to see if I can flare it up. Since I’m paying out-of-pocket to see this guy, I want to be able to pinpoint exactly where it ‘hurts’. Otherwise, it’ll be a waste of money. Whacked Logic, I know.

Hike the Cinque Terre

Wow…I had the whole Cinque Terre hike all to myself for most of the time. Apparently it’s officially ‘closed’ in January. Good thing I didn’t know that. This was a definite highlight of my trip. For anyone doing this trip, don’t listen to the tourist books that suggest you go from South to North. Going Monterosso to Riomaggiore is the best way. The most beautiful (and challenging) parts are between the 1st 3 towns. (*the 5 hours includes a leisurely lunch in Corniglia and photo stops along the way.)
