Running in a wintery wonderland

We made it to the gym this morning (taking the slick but flat back roads).    It was snowy and icey out, but it wasn’t ‘that’ cold!!   I took clothes for an inside workout, but opted to do my run outside.   I’m SO HAPPY I did.  What a great way to wake up!!  We did 2.5 loops in the business park around the Y and the Seattle Times.   They grated the roads to the point of passability and left enough snow crusts on the edges to provide adequate traction.   The sidewalks were under huge drifts but there weren’t many cars to make it dangerous.

Jingle all the way!

Made it to the gym in the ice! Yay!

Slogged on the dreadmill….  but I’m done with this wimping out inside.  Snow or not, life goes on.

Okay, enough snow days.

We braved the elements to cure the case of Cabin Fever.   Thanks to the staff who made it to the Y so we had a place to go.

Intervals on the dreadmill

This workout was supposed to be track work….  but with 6 inches of snow and ice… the dreadmill had to do.

600 MILES! WooHOOOO!

When I started blogging my workouts on 1/1/08, I was curious about what I would gain from the experience.
Looking back, I am laughing at myself for resisting blogging for so long!! I would never have known that I would hit running 600 miles (plus all the other sweating and miles on my bike and in the lake!)

Thanks to the Sweat365 gang for convicing me of the benefits of blogging - and for continuing to offer a place where I can kick myself in the butt just as easily as I can pat myself on the back.

Run on.

Slip slidin’ away

Maybe this is what it feels like to run the Antarctica Marathon?  Our plan said a 5K time trial so we headed to Green Lake.    Even the gravel trails were icey.   I’m glad we went outside though.   The crisp air and the bright sun was a great way to start the day.

Ever run in a sauna?

Bit the bullet and went for a run in muggy, warm Charleston.  Sweat-eee!!!   It closed out a cool day of speaking at the DoN CPI Conference and touring AFB Charleston.   I was up-close-and-personal with massive C17s.  They are like flying buildings!       Very cool.

Owie! Owie! Owie!

Geez, I am sore EVERYWHERE today.  Who knew hot yoga would leave such a burrrnnnnn…. (Fancy folk might call it DOMS:  Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness).   Every bit of my body is either achey or sore.  Arms, sides, legs, behind my knees.  This made for a slog of a run this morning.

But… you know what they say?   It’s like Buckleys.  If it tastes bad, then it must be good for ya!

Just call me Gumby!  Sign me up for the month of unlimited classes over the holidays!  I might just be able to touch my toes yet!!!
